It rained all night/  /August 31, 2005
[ It rained all night, enough to make me get out of bed and close the window. That's rain.

Yesterday was so perfectly blissful: I practiced reading a certain poem, I reviewed a paper on programming languages, I cooked dinner and watched a movie with my parents. Today I spent persuading three different post offices to write down my name. And accepting the help of my mother in trying to get my residual books sorted into different kinds of boxes ("Ditch," "Maybe-ditch," "You-can-have," "Maybe-sell," "Send-me-someday," "Save-for-visiting-children"). Accepting the help of my mother includes fighting off her insistence on helping much more, which is infinitely stressful. Accepting a medium amount is a step forward.

I'm moving to Edinburgh, Scotland. They have rain there, and castles, and computer science, and everything else I love. I don't expect my stress to go down much over the next two or three weeks. I'll write to you at times. Best— ]
